Daughters

Wow. Something I've wanted all my life has in a split second changed. I believe it's God who is changing my heart; which gives it validity, and not just some random mood change of my own, which I'm prone to. My whole life I've been excited about being a mother, specifically a mother of 5 boys. Something about brown haired, brown eyed, snuggly, squeaky voiced, but tough, dirty knee'd, tumbling, wondering, non-over-emotional [is that a word?] little boys is just the best. And 5 of them. 5 is just a good, rounded number. Sometimes I would say I want maybe 1 girl, but no more. And not because I really wanted one, but just because I didn't want to set my self up for dissapointment if I did find out I was having a girl someday.

But this morning I was reading this book called Captivating, by John & Staci Eldridge... and they were telling a story about a little girls 6th birthday. She woke up on her special day to singing and candles and love for her everywhere. She was loved by her mother and father, so special to them. The way they described it wasn't eloquently worded, but just a simple story... one I would normally pass over. But reading that put a fire in my heart... I want daughters... sensitive, creative, vocal, laughing, brown eyed, suprising, lovely daughters. And my husband and I will love them fiercely, and they will know who they are.

More thoughts to come...

Isn't the thought of children fun? Boys kinda scare me but that's because I grew up with girls and even then, only part time. I had a vision once of me pregnant, with two little girls and it got me excited :) That's how the Lord told me "You'll be married and have kids... get used to the idea!" ;)

I'm here to tell you little girls are a blast. This mother of three wouldn't trade it for the world. Ihope some day to have a boy but if I only have a dozen girls I would be blessed indeed!

Hi Rose, we don't really know each other, but I think we may have met before?? Anyway, I loved this entry.
I love having boys, and would like to have another, but I do dream of having a little girl someday as well. :)
Someone in this family needs to wear pink besides me!

I'm pregnant with #3 and for the first time I really want a girl! I am 24 weeks pregnant and the little one wasn't cooperating so we may have to wait until the baby is born. So glad you have a blog! Your hair is cute too by the way :)

Girls are GREEEEAAATTT! They start dancing ballet to music without ever seeing a ballet, they pat your back and pat your face softly when you are putting them to bed, they say things like, "you are so pretty mommy", and want to do everything you are doing when you get ready in the morning. Oh, my heart is so IN LOVE with my girls. I hope you get what you heart desires!

This was beautiful, Rose. You have a lovely, lively way of expressing. You should write a story... My favorite line was: "And we will love them fiercely, and they will know who they are."
